    Hi Author!

I am here because I saw this plugin on the stack exchange community.
Thanks for the plugin but this plugin is not working with me ??

    Error:

Error contacting the remote site: an undefined error occurred. Please make sure the address is correct and try again.
On the remote site, please make sure the plugin is activated and that the permalinks are up to date by visiting the permalinks settings page

Can you tell me why it happening? Both are live sites, and visible to the world.

    – Both have the same plugin installed,
    – Both have the same tokens generated by me (signature and encryption) key.
    – Both versions of WordPress are up-to-date, as well as the plugin.

    Please help me troubleshoot.
Thanks in advance, waiting for your reply!

When I tried to deactivate all plugins:
    – Classic Editor
    – EP Remote Users Sync

    2 Plugins Activated Only,
    Issue changes:

Now the error: An undefined error occurred – please visit the permalinks settings page and try again.
On activating my SSL plugin, the issue again changes to the previous issue, as told by the previous message.

    What is happening to me??

I have tried for both https and non-https in my code and both my websites are running on non-www versions.
    Still no results.

PS: What do you mean by activating logs? Even in plugin log nothing appears on repeated replies.

I am not sure to understand what you mean by “in my code”. The only possibly necessary changes are in the database: if your websites are https://siteA.com and https://siteB.com, then both the WordPress settings in “Settings” > “General” > “WordPress Address” and the wp_options table, home value need to match exactly, and the WPRUS Remote Site URL settings need to match the correct form of the URLs as well.
Regarding logs: “WP Remote Users Sync” > “Activity Logs” > “Enable Logs” to be able to see what happens when the sites are trying to communicate. These logs may help you see URL discrepancies.

I am sorry for the late reply.
I did some troubleshooting and I have solved the issue from my side.
The issue was caused by the SSL configuration.

EDIT: The test passed successfully. But the sync is not going live.
I mean when I logout from one place, it is not logging out from the other site.

In total: Sync not working, but site has passed all the tests.

    Hi @allroundernaman
So sorry for the late reply – I got confused and understood the issue was solved!

    • Are both usernames with which you tested the login existing on both sites and match exactly?
    • Can you see, when logging in or out on site A, in the browser network inspector, a request to https://siteB.com/wprus/login[etc...]?
    • Do you have any javascript error in the frontend of the site?
    • Are there any other WRUS user actions that work? (provided the answer to the first question was “yes”)
    • Do you see a mention of “Info – Added https://siteB.com/wprus/login/ async URL in admin_footer” or “Info – Added https://siteB/wprus/login/ async URL in wp_footer” or “Info – Added https://siteB/wprus/login/ async URL in login_footer” anywhere in the logs?
    • Is your theme properly calling the wp_footer hook?
    • Do the sync works with default theme and no plugin?
    • If yes to the above, have you tried enabling plugins/theme 1 by 1 to narrow down the potential issue?

Above are only examples of how you could provide more information. Please feel free to help the troubleshooting process by providing them ; since it’s been such a long time, I would understand you have given up on this topic, and in that case I can only apologize once more. I will mark the topic as “Resolved” in 7 days in case no more information is provided.
