My Jetpack used to connect to WordPress, but now will not. I found info in the forums and located the xmlrpc.php text in the .htaccess file and removed it, but it still will not connect.

Here is the error I get:
“Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible
Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site [HTTP 404]. Ask your web host if they allow connections from WordPress.com. If you need further assistance, contact Jetpack Support: https://jetpack.me/support/”

Jetpack uses your site’s XML-RPC file to communicate with WordPress.com. Unfortunately I cannot access that file on your site at the moment:
    https://jillhart.com/xmlrpc.php

If you use a security plugin to block access to the file, you’ll need to configure it to allow incoming and outgoing connections to /xmlrpc.php.

If you do not use such plugin, you’ll want to contact your hosting provider and ask them if they currently block access to your site’s XML-RPC file.

I hope this helps. Please get in touch again if you have any questions.

I came here with the same problem. I just noticed this issue when I upgraded to WordPress 4.4.1 today. I’ve tried the steps above. https://afumc.com/xmlrpc.php is inaccessible and I’ve contacted my hosting provider. Will update if solved.
