So I get this error when trying to get Instagram access token “Oops, an error occurred.”

I’ve already tried logging out of Instagram and then logging in again through the Login and get my access token banner but upon logging in the same thing happens.

Please help me to fix this.
    Thank you

    Hi @yandoos,

    Thanks for contacting us.

Make sure you are running the latest version of the Feed Them Social free plugin (currently 2.9.8.10).

SHORT ANSWER: It’s possible that your IG Basic token may have expired. You will need to reacquire a new IG Basic token, generate a new shortcode, replace the old shortcode and then, after you update/publish, clear the FTS cache.

TOKEN EXPIRATION: The Instagram Basic token will expire every 2 months regardless of if you are using our free FTS version or our Premium FTS.
Our latest Feed Them Social update will refresh the IG Basic tokens in the background so a manual refresh is no longer required.

LONG ANSWER: Whatever WordPress Page you are managing, and if you wish to display any instagram account, you will need to have the login credentials for that IG account, in order to display it.

    1) Open your WordPress site and in your WordPress dashboard go to Feed Them > Instagram Options

    2) Open another browser tab and open Instagram.

    3) Log out of whatever Instagram account you are in.

    4) Log into the Instagram account you wish to display.

    5) Back in WordPress, in Feed Them > Instagram Options, click the banner/button to gain an IG token. The prompts will take you though that IG account, provided you are properly logged into that account in the other browser tab.

    6) Once returned to WordPress, even if you see an error message, disregard and scroll to the bottom and click the green ‘Save All Changes’ button

    7) Go to Feed them > Settings to generate a new shortcode

    8) Then apply that new shortcode to your WP page. After you update/publish, you may need to clear the FTS cache so the changes can take effect.

    That should resolve this issue.

*Please make sure you are not running any Facebook blocking extensions in your browser (like FB Container in Firefox for example).
*For an Instagram Business Token, if you have added your website domain to Facebook Business Suite, be sure that third party developers are set to allowed.

    Best regards

    Steps 1-8 did it.
When I initially tried to connect to Instagram I didn’t logout/in of Instagram account. Doing so seemed to fix it.

    Thanks again ??
