Thanks for reaching out?@jperson19468. Based on this error, please perform a plugin reset and share whether you’re then able to proceed with setup?(Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit).

Note that by resetting, you will need to connect all previously connected modules once more.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. We also have a guide on the plugin website in relation to this error which contains more details of this, such as situations where this may occur.

    Google Site Kit verification Error

    Set up Site Kit

Get insights on how people find your site, as well as how to improve and monetize your site’s content, directly in your WordPress dashboard

Your site may not be ready for Site Kit

Looks like Site Kit is unable to place or detect tags on your site. This can be caused by using certain caching or maintenance mode plugins or your site’s frontend is configured on a different host or infrastructure than your administration dashboard.

I sign in to google using my account and I get the following message:

    Have Google verify site ownership

To verify that you own Great Careers Groups, Google adds a verification token to your site’s HTML code.

An error occurred: The necessary verification token could not be found on your site. This may be related to your site using a page caching plugin. Please flush your home page cache and then try again. I cleared the cache on the site and ran Google verify site ownership again with same error message We have several page caching plugins Proxy Cache Purge , WP Rocket

Thanks for the update @jperson19468. Given the error you’re not seeing, please follow the steps below in order to complete Site Kit set up:

    1. Login to your live site from a Chrome browser incognito window.
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google“.
    5. Attempt to set up Site Kit once more.

Let me know how you get on with the above, or ask if you have any questions.

If I did every right I still received the following message: An error occurred: The necessary verification token could not be found on your site. This may be related to your site using a page caching plugin. Please flush your home page cache and then try again.

Appreciate you performing these checks @jperson19468, thanks for the update. As the same is occurring, please share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.??
    2. When you access the below URL, and click on the grey verify button, can you share whether your site ownership is automatically verified, using the Google account which you are using to set up Site Kit with? Note that you’ll need to replace the example.com reference with your own site URL: ?https://search.google.com/u/1/search-console/performance/search-analytics?start_date=20240405&end_date=20240502&resource_id=https://www.example.com

@jperson19468 We received a Site Health information form response that references this support topic. Assuming this is you who submitted this, the site referenced is behind a login wall – a site which looks like a staging site. In order to complete Site Kit set up, a site needs to be fully live and available, so Search Console can verify site ownership.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.
