• Hi!

I just installed W3TC and had to do some changes manually in htaccess and had to copy advanced-cache.php to wp-content + creating some folders for the plugin. I did all the things W§TC told me in the control panel. However, there is still one error I get and I can’t fix it.

    Getting this:

W3 Total Cache: Default settings are in use. The configuration file could not be read or doesn’t exist. Please save the settings to create the file.

Below this error is the message:
The plugin is currently enabled in community edge mode.

Clicking the “Save Settings” button on the error message doesn’t fix the problem, it does nothing!

What do I have to do now? Any suggestions?

  • This happened to me as well a few days ago. I had to go to the Main Network panel and enable this option ‘Use single network configuration file for all sites.’ in ‘Performance -> General Settings -> Miscelaneous’.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks for your feedback!

What version of WT3TC are you using? I don’t have this option in my version and I am using the current.

I also do not have this option for “Use single network configuration file for all sites”. I’m using w3-total-cache.0.9.4.1 on WordPress 4.3

Hi all, i also faced the same problem recently. And just like @mattmaldre, i also didn’t have this “Use single network configuration file for all sites” option.

But instead you can solve this by clicking: ‘Performance -> General Settings -> Import / Export Settings -> Restore Default Settings

Hope this helps you too ??

    thank you 4lvin. it helped.

‘Use single network configuration file for all sites’ was already checked for me. Does anyone have any other solutions?

He seguido las indicaciones de 4lvin y ha funcionado correctamente.
    Gracias 4lvin!

Hi, this also occurs when setting defaults. The easiest solution I found was to simply revert from using default settings; i.e. simply make a change to any setting and click save.

Hi have the same problem with version 0.9.5.1 and WP version 4.6.1.

Previous answers of this thread did not help.

    Any clue?
