    Hello,

I use BackWPup free for a weekly backup of my three WordPress sites. The backup should be uploaded to Dropbox and keep the last five backups.

Until the last automated backup it worked well since I installed the plugin. At the last backup the error ” Dropbox-API: (56) GnuTLS recv error (-9): A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.” occured. On two instances the backup worked after I restarted it manually (the error still occured, but the backup was uploaded to my dropbox). On my third instance the backup still doesn’t work. I started it manually for about six times now, but no file was uploaded to my Dropbox and the error occured every time. The backup should have a size of about 900 MB and I have 1,9 GB of free space in my Dropbox.

Does someone has an assumption why the error occurs and how to fix it?

Thank you in advance and greetings,
    Jonas

    Hi Daniel,

my webhoster is WebGo24 and I have the package “Profi”. At the moment I use ZenCache as a caching plugin but when I first experienced the problem I used W3 Total Cache. I don’t have a security plugin installed but some others.

Do you need any further information? Thank you,
    Jonas

    Hello,

i think that is something on your host. We can only deactivati security checks to remove the message. You can use this Plugin for this: https://marketpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/backwpup-disable-ssl-verify.zip

    Hi Daniel,

thank you for your hint. I contacted my webhoster and they confirmed that it’s an issue related to ongoing an update to PHP version 5.5 and 5.6. So I uploaded the php file you linked to to the BackWPup folder (plugin folder). I hope that is correct. I started the backup process and it looked like it would work but I got another error message: “FEHLER: Dropbox-API: (500) Internal Server Error”. So the backup still didn’t work…

The 500 internal server error cames from dropbox side.
The PHP file must in the Plugins folder it is a extra plugin. that must be activated.

Now it works. Thank you again, Daniel!
