I was trying to upgrade to the latest version of wp by completing a manual upgrade. After unzipping and uplading the upgrade file, I tried to log in at my admin page and the fillowing error appears

Warning: require(/home/bradblog/public_html/wp-includes/compat.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/bradblog/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 207

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/bradblog/public_html/wp-includes/compat.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/bradblog/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 207

I am lost as to how to fix the error and get my blog running again. Please advise asap. Thanks

Have you run the upgrade script yet?

thats telling you that wp-includes/compat.php is NOT uploaded or its a 0byte file.

btw, if this is the blog in question:

    https://www.bradblog.com/

you REALLY need to get on this.

I just registered and logged into your site without issue. you need to clear your browser cache. Please also, if you would, delete my account ??

    no offense ??

Brad, you really should upgrade bradblog.com as Whoo suggested.

Hello and thank you for your help. I was able to finish the manual ugrade, my mistake was in placing the newer wordpress files into the wrong root folder when I tranfsferred thru FTP. “Whooami” will be deleted from my blog accounts asap.

bradblog.com is not affiliated with my blog. My blog is https://www.eatnlisten.com.

Now that the upgrade is complete, I am having an issue with my pictures on different posts not showing. I believe this is due to deleting the wp-content/uploads/… file when I upgraded.

I am not sure why some pics show when I look via url and some don’t. In my dashboard gallery the photos do not appear (the description for each photo does appear with a blank pic box) but the photo will show if I right click to view.

Should I reload all the pics into the wp-content/uploads/…folders as the link for each pic refers back to, and how do I ensure they are connected back to the link in the post, or is there a better way to fix? I tried uplaoding one pic to the file thru FTP and it did not solve the problem?

thanks brad — the account is “whoo” ??

I believe this is due to deleting the wp-content/uploads/… file when I upgraded.

sounds pretty reasonable to me. in fact that would be sort of an obviuousism. if you deleted images they wont show up.

why dont you examine the path of the image .. Look at the source of your page. find the path or the url to the missing image — then go look and see if the image actually exists on the server where its being looked for. thats web 101.

if you deleted images, yes you will need to put them back, and you can do that correctly by uploading that content from within your latest backup. (USE YOUR FTP CLIENT)

Done properly, nothing else is required,.

Thanks I am trying this now.

How do I clear my cache as you suggested?

Sorry, this tech stuff is not coming to me easily but I really appreciate the help.

I tried thru FTP uploading 2 of the photos into the correct wp-content file.

The photos are in the correct wp file but do not show in the gallery on wp? Is there another step involved that I am missing.

I/ve checked the blog from 2 dif computers and my cell and sometimes photos show sometimes they don’t. Seems to be random.

Please advise. Should I delete and reload the photos into the original posts instead of trying to link them back to the gallery wp=content file location?
