I’ve just set up a new wordpress site and removed all plugins. Then I downloaded this plugin and when I click “activate” the following error shows:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '[' in /var/customers/webs/ni454481_2/web/wp-content/plugins/wp-symposium-pro/forums/wps_forum_shortcodes.php on line 291

That error is normally caused when your server is using version 5.3 of PHP which is a depreciated version of PHP. Its best to get your server to upgrade your PHP to version 5.6 and you should no longer get that error.

THis has now been fixed in the next release that is coming out ans will work on older legacy sites.
