Error after WP upgrade

I’m working on a fresh installation of WP 3.9 and have tried to install 5.3.1 through the plug-ins page and through a zip upload. In both cases I’ve received the same error. I found the wppa_cached_options file using Tweak Option and deleted it (after deactivating the plug in), but when I reactivated the plug-in I got the same message. I’ve gone through this process several times, but no luck. The Version 5.2.21 plugin is working beautifully on WordPress 3.8.3, but I’m not comfortable upgrading to 5.3.1 or WordPress 3.9.

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

The wppa_cached_options item is rebuild after you deleted it. With the right data (..?). That is normal.

If you can not delete it using Tweak Option because of a wppa error message, de-activate wppa before deleting wppa_cached_options.

If this does not help agains the [… is not a yes/no setting] errors,

No luck what so ever….Tried everything from this thread.

Are you running on a windows host?
What is your wppa version.

@jacob : yes it is windows Godaddy host. I was asked by wordpress to update database and i am getting error
“Unable to create user depot directory Ask your administrator to give you more rights, or create D:/Hosting/2090461/html/D:\Hosting\2090461\html/wp-content/wppa-depot/sitename manually using an FTP program.”
wppa version: Version 5.3.1
Wordpress: 3.9

The error goes away if in deactivate the plugin but comes back as soon as i activate it. I have tried to deactivate plugin and delete wppa_cache_options but the error comes back as soon as i reactivate the plugin.

I too lost my admin after updating to 5.3.1 Restored it back to version 5.2.21.

My site was unaffected but could not get past dashboard. As soon as I clicked anything I got this message :-

WordPress database error Duplicate key name ‘slug’ for query ALTER TABLE wp_wppa_index ADD KEY slug (slug(20)) made by require_once(‘H:\hshome\photopostman\historyhunters.co.uk\wp-admin\admin.php’), require_once(‘H:\hshome\photopostman\historyhunters.co.uk\wp-load.php’), require_once(‘H:\hshome\photopostman\historyhunters.co.uk\wp-config.php’), require_once(‘H:\hshome\photopostman\historyhunters.co.uk\wp-settings.php’), do_action(‘init’), call_user_func_array, wppa_setup, dbDelta.

WP 3.9 / Windows server.

Should be fixed in 5.3.2, to be released in max a few days

Just updated WPPA and everything seems to be working great.

You may still encounter damaged settings in the Photo Albums -> Settings admin page.

This is because of a bug in the wp function delete_option(). It appears that it sometimes does not delete the option, but replaces the value by an empty text string, resulting in default values being replaced by ”.

An attempt will be made to repair as much as possible in 5.3.3.

In the mean time: if you encounter strange behaviour and can relate that to a wppa setting, go to the Settings page, change the setting, and change it back to what it should be. This should fix it.

Fortunately chackboxes are not affected, because happily ” gives the same result as ‘no’ in this particular case, but selections which have always a non empty value, may look like the first option is chosen, but it is possible that it does not work accordingly.
