• hello all. Since the 8.5 update I’ve been seeing this error in the logs and am unable to use the WP CLI to downgrade to 5.7.2 where it was running….any advice appreciated. I can’t use the wpcli to check any plugins or anything of that nature as the it throws the same error as below in the command line. I’m a NOOB to WP so be descriptive! thans

Thanks…another 5.7.2 site still runs fine.

I should note the the site is reporting as an error has happened and is unusable…

Seems that you’re using an old version of the Gutenberg plugin. Deactivate it by renaming its folder (from FTP or from the hosting control panel), then delete it and install the latest version if you still want to use Gutenberg.

@azaozz so will that screw up the site when it comes back up from being uninstalled or will it still display normally? … would be nice if the WP upgrade detected no compatible plugins and said WOAH…

It’s safe. You can remove the Gutenberg plugin ?? Everything you need is in core, and you only need the plugin if you’re testing new Gutenberg features.

Sadly that’s a lot easier said than done. Plugin compatibility is based on what the developer says, and not all are as correct as others.

@ipstenu but isn’t Gutenberg WordPress’s plugin? shouldn’t it at least not die on its own plugin at a minimum?

As Ozz noted, you’re using an out of date version of a beta plugin. You could update it, sure, but since there’s no practical reason to have it on a live site, it’s easier to remove it and ignore it ??

Beta versions are not expected to be stable, that’s why they’re betas.
