Error after upgrading to 2.1

  • I upload the files to upgrade my wordpress version to 2.1 After that I go to myblog/wp-admin/upgrade.php like always but after the first click I get this error message…

    ERROR: WordPress 2.1 requires MySQL 4.0.0 or higher

    My hosting is running MySQL 3.23.58 (I think xD)…so I can`t use the new version of wordpress?

  • Sorry, but I’m pretty sure that 2.1 is the first WP to require 4.0.0 or better.

    With some hosts, moving to a new version of MySQL is just a matter of requesting the change. Try asking their tech support people.

    Well If tried to install it and got the error:

    Second Step

    Now we’re going to create the database tables and fill them with some default data.
    ERROR: WordPress 2.1 requires MySQL 4.0.0 or higher

    So I’ve called my host and he told me they are using MYSQL 4.1.15 that is higher so why can’t I install it ??
