Thank you for reporting this. I just fixed the issue in version 1.5.5 (just released) and everything should be working fine.

Hi, Isabel, it’s still not working.
    The button is not visible

With version 1.5.3 it worked perfect

You can have a look at my website

Since version 1.5.3, the subscribe checkbox is displayed by being hooked onto the default WordPress hook called, comment_form_submit_field.

I suspect that your theme is using that hook improperly to overwrite the submit button. If that is the case, that would overwrite/remove this checkbox.

(If a theme wants to override the HTML for a submit button, it is better to use the comment_form_submit_button hook instead.)

Would you be able to confirm if this is what the theme is doing? If you can, please search your theme for comment_form_submit_field. If you find that, and post it back here, I may be able to go around that and fix your issue.

Hi, I’m facing the same issue since latest Lightweight Subscribe To Comments upgrade (now v1.5.5) : no checkbox displayed anywhere on the post… (used to be displayed before).

To answer your previous question @isabel104, I found no comment_form_submit_field in the theme files.

FYI, I just downgraded lstc to 1.5.3 and it works fine again.

If you could tell me what theme you’re both using, I could take a look. Your themes are either not using the default WordPress comment form, or they using an outdated modification of the comment form that is missing the comment_form_submit_field hook.

On my side, the theme is surreal 1.3.0 which I’m planning to change some day… but not soon.

    Hi, Isabel
The template I use is the following:

I find it an excellent plugin I hope you can find the solution. Thank you ??

I’m sorry for the delay. Thank you both for the information about your themes. However, since they are not on the WP theme directory, I didn’t see the code.

Good news: Version 1.5.6, just released, should work with any themes.

Please let me know if this did not help. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks Isabel. No problem on my side regarding the delay, the feature is still working fine with 1.5.3.

Unfortunately, I upgraded to 1.5.6 with no success : no checkbox appearing anywhere on the post… So I’m back to 1.5.3.

    Not Working Version 1.5.6, ??

No checkbox appearing anywhere on the post.

    Hi Isabel
Same here. After update from 1.5.5 to 1.5.6 the Checkbox isn′t appearing.

This latest update, version 1.5.7 should definitely work for all 3 of you.

For macsgv and manu.p, there is a new Theme Compatibility option on the plugins settings page. Enable the option called “Show Checkbox After The Comment Form” and that will revert back to the same checkbox from version 1.5.3 and previous.

Enabling that new option will make the checkbox work on a larger variety of independent themes (themes that do not use standard WordPress comment form filters).

For Karl, this update will work for you because it reverts back to the same method as 1.5.5.

Sorry for the delay and annoyance. Thanks for your patience.

    Good morning Isabel,
thank you for the quick fix. I just updated to v1.5.7 and made some tests – Checkbox is working again. Perfect work!

    I wish you a nice Weekend ??
    With best Regards, Karl
