Since a few days ago we can’t process payments. When trying to make a payment I get this error: Error occurred: Could not connect to Stripe (https://api.stripe.com/v1/customers). Please check your internet connection and try again. If this problem persists, you should check Stripe’s service status at https://twitter.com/stripestatus, or let us know at [email protected]. (Network error [errno 28]: Failed to connect to api.stripe.com port 443 after 26252 ms: Couldn’t connect to server)

I have checked with stripe and my host – both say all OK on their side and suggest to check with the plugin support

    Hi,

Since a few days ago we can’t process payments.

Has anything changed in your site or server?

Also, I checked your link above and when I click on the Buy Now button the window opens up for processing. Are you receiving the error after you enter the payment details and click on Pay now button or before?

    Kind regards.

The error you’re experiencing is most probably related to a server issue that is external to the plugin. Let me explain this in a little more detail.

Our plugin uses library from Stripe to make certain API calls. Stripe’s library uses the PHP Curl library. If your server’s PHP curl library configuration has changed to the point the Stripe’s library is failing to work, it will give the error you are receiving. So best to ask your hosting provider’s server admin team (not the first level of tech support) to see if any of the following configuration changed on the server

    • PHP Curl library
    • Firewall and/or security related configuration
    • Network Port configuration

Sidenote (Just to give you additional context): Nothing in the plugin changed in the last month or so. Also, I tested the transaction functionality just now to double check. Also, I know that everything with Stripe is working fine (I use this plugin myself on a few live sites where transactions have been processed successfully in the last 24 hours).
