• After upading the WP to v 4.9, I’m unable to edit the theme from the Appearance -> Editor page.

    The steps that I did:
    – Updated to 4.9
    – Updated plugins
    – Cleared cached from the plugin
    – Deleted cache files – just in case

After those steps, I’m unable to edit the .php files (within the editor page area).

For example, I was working on the footer.php file and after clicking on the “Update File” button, I got:
“Unable to communicate back with site to check for fatal errors, so the PHP change was reverted. You will need to upload your PHP file change by some other means, such as by using SFTP.”

iThemes Security plugin stop working as well, it says that it doesn’t have permission to the backend to do the backup :-/ Everything else with the plugin is working after the update. The only issue is with the backup feature. I disabled, deleted, and re-installed the plugin; still experiencing the same issue.

I had to revert back to the previous version so that I can work on the site and have the backup running on a daily basis.

Please advise what I can do so that I can edit the theme (php files) from the Editor page.

    Thank you.

    My recommendation to all is…
Do not use Plugins anymore for building Landing Pages.
I am working now with Insta Suite…
You can access all pages from within WP
but they‘re laying on the Insta Suite Server. Your Page address will remain the one you have with your WP.

The editors are fantastic und the pages
    look brilliant.

I am also using it for my Affiliate list and Member Areas…

I love it and I am not bothered with further WP Updates…

I had a free offer 1 year extension to my run out service pack from OptimizePress.

Now my landing Pages are up & running again.

If you want to use Landingpages in the future, which you can access from within WP but which are not hosted in WP, then ask me.

With my new solution I am free from future problems with further WP updates.

My new Landingpages will still be named as my WP Domains…

    Very cool solution.

Thanks for your help and feedback this time!

    same problem…

The issue with WordPress 4.9 and OptimizePress has been addressed with the latest release of the plugin.

You have to renew your support agreement to get the update.

@leftbrainzen – thanks for replying and letting me know. However, what do you mean by, “you have to renew your support agreement to get the update” ?

For OptimizePress I had to renew my licence in order to get my landingpages going again with the coresponding update.

    Ah I see.
    Thanks.

Get the Optimize Press Update if you have OP Pages and they will work again.
And then look for an alternative to OptimizePress for the future.
I am using Insta Suite… and I can really recommend it.
You are free from future WP update hassle with all you pages then…
