My page appears fine and functionality is good (those I have tested). However I can not access the home page to make edits. Results in WSOD Internal Server Error. I can access other pages. I have deactivated and re-activated plug-ins, but am ignorant on how to access the FTP to follow additional instructions on renaming htpaccess files. Embarassed to say I don’t know which hosting service we use, or if we self-host.

I backed up my files then ran the update to 6.1.1 prior to this issue. I also “dinked” around with the publish button on one page (Raffle) to make it private, then turned it back to public, because I was experimenting.

Home page is located at https://juneaudance.org/
    Thank you!

PS note we have had a pending email address change/request in our settings for quite some time. [email protected] is the CORRECT email address. [email protected] is no longer our primary address (though I do have access to it).

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Internal server errors (error 500) are often caused by plugin or theme function conflicts, so if you have access to your admin panel, try deactivating all plugins. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the default theme for your version of WordPress to rule-out a theme-specific issue. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

If that does not resolve the issue, it’s possible that a .htaccess rule could be the source of the problem. To check for this, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and rename the .htaccess file. If you can’t find a .htaccess file, make sure that you have set your SFTP or FTP client to view invisible files.

If you weren’t able to resolve the issue by either resetting your plugins and theme or renaming your .htaccess file, we may be able to help, but we’ll need a more detailed error message.

Internal server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that time period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

Thank you for your responses. I made some headway – with assistance from my IT guy – we gained access to the file manager. We completed each of the recommended tasks: replacing the theme, renaming the theme directory, then the .htaccess files (clearing cache between each action); Still encountering an “internal server error”.

Note, the error is ONLY generated when attempting to edit the Home Page (either through live view or dashboard views). I apparently can access/edit all other pages.

Could you please assist further, and if so, what information is needed?

    Thank you for your time,

Still encountering an “internal server error”

If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that time period which may give a clue to why this is happening on your website/server.

If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

No luck generating/finding the error log, even though I followed step-by-step instructions (youtube) for doing so in FileZilla. HOWEVER – I did deactivate several plug-ins, which appears to have “fixed” my issue. I can now access editing for the Home page, but I can’t figure out how to get it into page builder view, and not code. I will start a new topic and send screen shots.
    Thank you!
