    Hello,

My 2 sites were working fine with the Jetpack extension but since yesterday, without changing anything, unable to Configure Jetpack v9.6.1, here is the error with 2 different internet providers (o2Switch and alwaysdata.net):

“The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site https://2.34autosport.fr [HTTP 503].”
I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the error is still the same.
I performed a Compatibility Test with the “Debug” mode and I have this message:
“Your Jetpack appears to be configured correctly!”

https://2.34autosport.fr/xmlrpc.php > XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.

Here is some useful information for your analysis:
WordPress 5.7.1 running the CarListings theme.
    Jetpack Version 9.6.1
    PHP version: 7.4
I haven’t installed any new extensions and checked against the list of incompatible ones: https://jetpack.com/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/known-issues/?site=2.34autosport.fr

Could you help me with a solution or modify the Jetpack extension?

    Hi there

Jetpack accesses your site using xmlrpc.php?for=jetpack – which should return the same “XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only” message.

That’s not working on the first site you mentioned:

    https://2.34autosport.fr/xmlrpc.php?for=jetpack

On https://ventes-autos-pont-a-mousson.alwaysdata.net/ we are running into a 503 error. Your host should be able to check their logs and provide more information about what’s causing that.

Part of the issue may be that although your domain has a valid SSL certificate, it is still possible for one to access your site via HTTP. In fact, your visitors and search engines can use either HTTP or HTTPS to access your site.

To solve this issue, I would recommend that you change your site’s URL to HTTPS (you can do so under Settings > General in your dashboard), and then ask your host for help redirecting all traffic from HTTP to HTTPS.

If your host is unable to help with that, you can follow the instructions here to do so:
    https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-ssl-and-https-in-wordpress/

Once that’s done, try to reconnect your site to WordPress.com once again; that should solve your issue.

That site also appears to be on Jetpack 9.1, so I’d suggest updating to 9.6.1 as soon as you get chance.

Let us know how it goes.

    Hi Dan,

    Thanks for your explanations, but I don’t understand;

    This test works well:

    https://2.34autosport.fr/xmlrpc.php

On the other hand it does not work with: https://2.34autosport.fr/xmlrpc.php

You wrote to me: “To fix this I recommend changing your site URL to HTTPS (you can do this under Settings> General in your dashboard), then ask your host to help you redirect all traffic from HTTP to HTTPS. “, but the site is already in HTTPS.

You talk to me about reconnecting your site to WordPress.com, but I have been using www.remarpro.com for years, does that change a few things?

    What do you think ?

    see you soon

    Hi @creawebrdv,

I’m going to answer your questions one by one as follows ??

You wrote to me: “To fix this I recommend changing your site URL to HTTPS (you can do this under Settings> General in your dashboard), then ask your host to help you redirect all traffic from HTTP to HTTPS. “, but the site is already in HTTPS.

I checked again your site by using both the HTTP and the HTTPS: all looks good now as the HTTP version redirects automatically to the HTTPS. That’s great news!

The xmlrpc.php file is doing the same: the HTTP version you said wasn’t working now redirects to the HTTPS. However, the HTTPS xmlrpc page now returns a Not Found page:

    https://2.34autosport.fr/xmlrpc.php

At this stage, I would recommend that you check the following:

    1) Can you see the /xmlrpc.php file at the root of your WordPress installation when accessing your site via FTP?

    2) Do you use any security plugins that may block access to this file? If so, could you try to disable them?

    3) Does your hosting provider block access to this file? If you don’t find any plugin that may block access to the file on your site, I would recommend that you get in touch with your host.`

Once the xmlrpc.php file will look like this example, then Jetpack should be able to reconnect. We’ll be happy to help you do that if that’s the case ??

    ________

You talk to me about reconnecting your site to WordPress.com, but I have been using www.remarpro.com for years, does that change a few things?

WordPress.com and www.remarpro.com are different as you can see from this prospect we’ve put together to clear out any confusion:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Jetpack uses a WordPress.com username and password and this is likely to be different to the username and password you use on your self-hosted WordPress site. Think of it as a Jetpack account rather than a WordPress account.

The good news is that you already have a WordPress.com account you used to connect Jetpack and your site. If you need help retrieve your forgotten password, you can use this page (provided you recall the email address you used to signup with WordPress.com):

    https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

In case that doesn’t work, you can also try the Account Recovery Form:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

    ________
Hope that’s all clear! Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

    Hi Stef,

Indeed, I had been checked in Wordfence and it was he who was blocking an IP to jetpack.

    The problem is solved, Thanks!
