• Hi Everyone!

I would LOVE some help here. I am hosting 1 long video file on amazon s3. I am selling a single page access that contains the link to run the file. I set this up in September and everything worked fine. Recently, the link stopped working (unfortunately I don’t know *how* recently – I am a brand-new business and only have a few people accessing this file right now). I would say it was working about a month ago.

Here’s what happens: user signs up & gets access to the page. No problem. When they link to the file, they get this error message: 503 (Invalid Key): Sorry, your access to this file has expired. Please contact Support for assistance.

I don’t know anything that I changed. I *was* running WP 4.3.1 when the errors started. I went ahead & updated to 4.4 just in case that fixed the problem. Of course it didn’t.

Can anyone help me figure out what happened? I’m happy to provide any more info – the code I’m using for the link, etc, if that would help.

• Hi jennyp
I’d be happy to help as much as possible.
There could be a few different things that ‘changed’ and is causing the problems.

How are you playing the video on the protected page? Are you using a separate plugin for the video player?

Have you updated all the plugins & themes?

Are you the only person with admin permissions to the s3 bucket the video is hosted in? I ask because something might have changed in the bucket policy or the permissions of the individual file.

Like I said, I’ll help as much as possible but I’ll need more info.

Hi Steve, Thanks so much for your response. I’m sorry I did not see it until now.

I am not using a separate plugin for the video. The protected page has a link to the video. When you click the link, a new page pops up and it plays inline. This is the code I’m using.
a href=”https://ohcrappottytrainingwithjenny.com/?s2member_file_download=PottyClassFinal.mp4&s2member_file_download_key=<?php”> Online Potty Class</a

Obviously there are the appropriate <> on either side of that code but I want you to be able to see it, not as a link. ??

I had a bad experience updating plugins & themes (uncpomlete theme plugin screwed up my whole site for 12 hours until it was fixed) so now I tend to slow-walk updates. So I did not install any updates in-between when it was working and when it stopped. After it broke, I went ahead and did the updates I had been putting off.

I am the only person with admin permissions to the s3bucket. I logged on to double check it – the video is still there. But I have a suspicion that maybe something changed with their policies or something…. I think because of the “invalid key” and access expired parts.

I got really sick last week & wasn’t able to work on troubleshooting. My plan of attack right now is turning my plugins on & off to see if something’s conflicting. Going back through the amazon s3/s2member account setup to make sure that is set up properly. Uploading a new, video & testing that…. I feel like all of this is swinging in the dark so any insight would be much appreciated.
