Error 503

    Hi there
    I started having a problem connecting new sites to mailchimp getting the Error connecting to Mailchimp: 503 Service Unavailable
    I followed through to your site and read the explanations you provide
    curl is the latest version
    so I thought well it must be the IP address so I changed the ip address to a new one today, but I am still having the same issue

    any ideas what could be the real reason?

    How did you change your IP address? You asked your hosting provider for a dedicated hosting ip?

    It’s very common that once you get a dedicated IP for your hosting package, that the hosting provider only sets this IP for inbound connections, and is still using a shared IP for outbound connection. You can ask your hosting support to setup the outbound routing so that cURL calls made by Apache/PHP are routed over your own dedicated IP.
    It can take a few levels/tiers of support before you get someone who is actually “in the know” about this sort of thing with your hosting provider as network routing is a complicated and specialized topic.
