• I am using a Kadence theme (Virtue) being hosted by GoDaddy. I keep getting a 502 bad gateway error when I’m working on my site. This only started happening since I started trying to add some jump links within my site. I’m not sure if this is related or purely a coincidence.

I’ve spoken to GoDaddy who say that is everything is fine there end and it might be an ISP problem. However I’ve been getting this error when I’ve been connected to three different ISP so I’m sure that’s not it. To create the jump links I’ve been using the following tags …. <p id=”unique-identifier”>I am the target text.</p> and then creating a custom link within a custom menu using the URL with #unique-identifier.

I’ve also tried different browsers and changing from a Mac to a PC (as I managed to convince myself that the Mac was the problem).

I’ve tried deactivating my plugins – however I can’t do what I need to do without Site Origin Page Builder or Site Origin widgets (or at least I don’t know how to) so I can’t really test if deactivating those makes a difference.

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

Do you have any errors in your site’s error logs?

Please excuse my poor WP knowledge but how do you access the sites error logs? I’ve tried googling it but I’m not getting anywhere! THanks.

They should be visible in your GoDaddy control panel. Please contact GD tech support for any specifics.

OK will contact GoDaddy, I did speak to them yesterday and they said that they “checked everything” at their end which I would assume includes checking any site logs but I will find out how to access these as well.

I’ve managed to get the debug log working and I’ve been getting the following errors…

“Trying to get property of non-object
    Type: PHP Notice Line: 628
    File: /home/content/n3pnexwpnas02_data02/64/3237364/html/wp-content/themes/virtue/lib/widgets.php”

I’ve contacted the theme provider to see if they can help but do you know what this error message means?

    Hi Rosie1984,

I also have this problem with 502 Bad Gateway and Go Daddy can’t find anything on their end either.

Did you find out how to fix the problem at all?

    Thanks,
    Lindsey

    Hi Lindsey,

Sorry – I still haven’t got to the bottom of it despite many hours on the phone to GoDaddy and trying lots of different things.

I have gone to the extent of deleting my entire site and then recreating it – this was something that GoDaddy suggested as I would then pick up a new server – however I still got the error. This did at least eliminate my theme/ content and plug ins from being the problem.

I will be speaking to them again tomorrow to see if they have any progress so I’ll let you know! And likewise if you manage to sort it out could you let me know ??

    Thanks,
    Rosie

    Thanks Rosie!

I have also spent hours on the phone to Go Daddy.
Out of curiosity, are the based in the UK? Go Daddy said it may be just a UK problem.

I will keep you updated if there is any progress on my end.

    Thanks so much
    Lindsey

    Hi Lindsey,

Still nothing resolved though admittedly I haven’t spent much time on it this week. We are based in the UK so it’s interesting to hear it could be UK only issue – although it would be nice if they had a resolution. Have GoDaddy admitted it’s a problem at their end?

    Thanks,

    Rosie
