  • Hello,

i just installed and get the same problem as emotional trash , someone get an idea ?

    thanks for your help

i ve tried to uninstall all my extensions to check if one could be responsable of the trouble and it’s polylang. After some research it seems this problem is known and cannot be solved. I have to uninstall polylang which is quite problematic for me.
    Any solutions ?

    many thanks,

Hi, I try to keep my plugin compatible with Polylang and I’m not aware of any problems that cause an error 500.

@emotionaltrash are you using Polylang? Does the sitemap index (main sitemap.xml) load correctly? If you’ve got a large number of posts or are on a server with not too much memory available for PHP processes, you might want to try to set “Split by: Month” under the Sitemap options on Settings > Reading.

    Hello,
For me the sitemap home, the sitemap posttype-post and the sitemap -taxonomy-category are ok.
The problem is for the sitemap-posttypepage, when i try to open it it doesn’t load and when i try to load it on the webmaster tool that’s says that there is an error HTTP 500.

    Thanks for you reply,

    Olivia

@olivia do you have access to the server/hosting error log?

    Hello,
    Do you mean that ?
    <?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?>

I’m not using polylang and it happening the same as Olivia. I have plenty of posts and only the posttype xml is giving that error. And it’s already by month.

Also, i’m not sure but maybe if we could paginate xmls by 1000 then no problem on the server memory?

@emotionaltrash so yes I see the 503 error on the januari news articles sitemap for example… how many news articles did you post in that month?

I’m afraid adding simple pagination is not allowed in a sitemap and the plugin was built to split posts up by date, not by number. This was done to “keep it simple” as it uses WordPress’s internal functions to get each month or year. I’d have to rethink the complete plugin structure to switch to splitting by number…

I don’t understand much how sitemaps works and i really love the keep it simple on your plugin. Thanks a lot for that ??

About this issue i tried other plugins (yoast, google sitemaps xml) and don’t know why or if it’s the right way to do it but they limit sitemaps parts to 1000 articles.

I’m not sure how many articles we do on a monthly basis but maybe 50 a day or more. not sure.

This wway with 500 error on webmaster tools google is giving error because it cant crawl those sitemaps.

Any thing i can do about this?

    many thanks again.

    Hello Ravanh,

did you see the message error i get and have you some help to give me ?
    best regards,
    Olivia

@olivia I don’t think your issue is related to this thread. Could you start a new thread and if you have access to an error log in your hosting panel, try and find the error that is related to the pages sitemap request…

    @ravanh

And what about mine? did you checked my sitemaps?

I would love to fix this since webmaster tools cant crawl them.

any way i can create more parts? by week, i dont know.

    many thanks.

    … maybe 50 a day or more…

I’m afraid that after “by year” or “by month”, the next native WordPress step is to split “by day” which might in your case result in a too many sitemaps.

It might be worth trying though. I’ll add this option in the development version and I’ll let you know soon ??

    (@emotionaltrash)

Yes that way will be plenty of sitemaps.

And what about limit them by number inside the time split, I mean spilt by year and month like already done, but choose to limit to 1000 inside month for example.

    And what about compression?

Again many thanks for all the feedback and support. I’m using your plugin on all my websites, this one is the only left and I would love to use the plugin on all of them ??
