Hi guys, we are having an issue that we cannot seem to resolve. We have deactivated all plugins and themes but we are still getting HTTP ERROR 500 when a user clicks “Donate Now” button the the Give form on this page:

    Hi there,

I just tested that and got the 500 error you mentioned. You mentioned that you deactivated all THEMES, but the theme that is currently active is not a default theme. I’d suggest using the Health Check plugin to troubleshoot that. It will allow you to deactivate all plugins and put your site on a default theme ONLY for yourself — your live visitors will not see that. We have a write-up on that here:
    https://givewp.com/documentation/resources/troubleshoot-wordpress-websites-health-check/

Then you can enable plugins one at a time and test again until you see the problem again. Then let me know which plugin caused the conflict and I can take a closer look at replicating the issue for you.

If that doesn’t resolve it, my next guess would be something related to your host, if you can provide me the full System Info found in “Donations > Tools > System Info” that would help as well.

Let me know how that goes.

So I have run the Health Check plugin and we still have an issue. Although it does not show an HTTP ERROR 500 message it just refreshes the Give form page, but does not redirect to PayPal.

Unfortunately, BlueHost seems to indicate that this plugin is not compatible with their shared hosting environment. So we will go to a different donation plugin as a solution. Thanks for your help.

Hi @tallydigitalbiz — that sounds a bit incredulous to hear from a host. I’m not sure what would cause them to say that. We develop our plugin with WordPress best practices and we work on every major hosting environment.

The PayPal Standard feature is really straight-forward and does not require anything special from the host/server.

If you’d like to continue looking into this, I’m happy to help you if you can contact me through our website: https://givewp.com/contact-us

Use the option: “You requested that I contact you here.” and reference this support ticket and ask for me. Thanks!
