    It seems Yoast has “resolved” the topic that one user ( @maginem ) opened a few weeks ago with an Error 500 since updates from 7.1

    No, this issue has not been resolved at all. Many users are experimenting this problem. Your solution was replacing the folder via FTP, but this is NOT the solution for us. We are still using 7.0.3 version because updating from this break our sites.

    I know we are using the Free version of your plugin, and I understand that we don’t have a premium support, but we are telling you about this problem and I think it should be fixed because it’s good for you.

    One of the last error messages (given by @sobonmartin ) was this:

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function remove_hooks() on null in /alt/home/webmaster.napogloves/www/html/us/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/inc/options/class-wpseo-options.php:228 Stack trace: #0 /alt/home/webmaster.napogloves/www/html/us/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/admin/metabox/class-metabox.php(44): WPSEO_Options::get(‘opengraph’, false) #1 /alt/home/webmaster.napogloves/www/html/us/wp-content/plugins/wpseo-pinterest-rich-pins-for-woocommerce/wpseo-pinterest-rich-pins-woocommerce.php(74): WPSEO_Metabox->__construct() #2 /alt/home/webmaster.napogloves/www/html/us/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(286): WPSEO_Pinterest_Rich_Pins->set_meta_box(”) #3 /alt/home/webmaster.napogloves/www/html/us/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(310): WP_Hook->apply_filters(NULL, Array) #4 /alt/home/webmaster.napogloves/www/html/us/wp-includes/plugin.php(453): WP_Hook->do_action(Array) #5 /alt/home/webmaster.napogloves/www/html/us/wp-settings.php(327): do_action(‘plugins_loaded’) #6 /alt/home/webmaster.napogloves/www/html/us/wp-config.php(90): require_once(‘/alt/home/webma…’) #7 /alt/home/webmaster.napogloves/www/html/us/wp-load.php(37): require_once(‘/alt/home/webma…’) #8 /alt/home/webmaster.napogloves/www/html/us/wp-blog-header.php(13): require_once(‘/alt/home/webma…’) #9 /alt/home/webmaster.napogloves/www/html/us/index.php(17): require(‘/alt/home/webma…’) #10 {main} thrown in /alt/home/webmaster.napogloves/www/html/us/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/inc/options/class-wpseo-options.php on line 228

    Any help will be welcome. Thank you.

    We apologize for any inconvenience. First thing first can you please confirm whether the issue persists when updating the plugin manually using FTP?

    We are sorry to hear that all the difficulties you are experiencing with Yoast SEO plugin.

    • Can you please confirm whether the issue persists while all the non-Yoast plugins are deactivated and the default 2017 theme is active on your site?
    • If the issue persists, we have a bug report closed due to inactivity in here where you can inform our development team that the issue persists. We recommend you please add as much information as you can whenever adding a comment in the provided GitHub issue to ensure our development team can reproduce the issue and fix it faster.

    The error I experienced was Fatal error: Call to a member function remove_hooks() on null in /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/inc/options/class-wpseo-options.php on line 228.

    I deactivated all plugins except for Yoast and then began reactivating one by one. Turns out this was caused by WPSEO Pinterest Rich Pins for WooCommerce for me, which is a very old plugin that hasn’t been updated in some time. I removed that plugin and Yoast now works fine, although I haven’t found a suitable substitute.

    I’m adding to this thread. I just took over a site and same issue with me when I updated all plugins and found the issue between Yoast and WPSEO. This was on a staging site on WP Engine. Here’s my error message:

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function remove_hooks() on null in /nas/content/staging/yoursite/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/inc/options/class-wpseo-options.php:228 Stack trace: #0 /nas/content/staging/yoursite/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/admin/metabox/class-metabox.php(42): WPSEO_Options::get(‘opengraph’, false) #1 /nas/content/staging/yoursite/wp-content/plugins/wpseo-pinterest-rich-pins-for-woocommerce/wpseo-pinterest-rich-pins-woocommerce.php(74): WPSEO_Metabox->__construct() #2 [internal function]: WPSEO_Pinterest_Rich_Pins->set_meta_box(”) #3 /nas/content/staging/countertop/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(286): call_user_func_array(Array, Array) #4 /nas/content/staging/yoursite/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(310): WP_Hook->apply_filters(NULL, Array) #5 /nas/content/staging/yoursite/wp-includes/plugin.php(453): WP_Hook->do_action(Array) #6 /nas/content/staging/yoursite/wp-settings.php(327): do_action(‘plugins_loaded’) #7 /nas/content/staging/yoursite/wp-config.php(125): require_onc in /nas/content/staging/yoursite/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/inc/options/class-wpseo-options.php on line 228

    I renamed the actual site ‘yoursite’ but I think you get the idea.
