Error 500 during installation of plug-in

  • I have gotten this error twice in the past two days with two different plug-ins which installed fine previously.

    The website encountered an error while retrieving https://www.aka.org/aka2test/wp-admin/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
    HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

    I cannot access the Admin section at all. I’ve done a database check and repair (without anything being broken)which means I had to start all over from scratch and put in 15-20 hours of work until it failed again.

    The actual frontend website seems to run fine, but now I can’t do any fresh work that I absolutely have to complete.

    If anyone has any idea other than backing up the site every hour (which I guess I will have to do now) please.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems. You can also do this by ftp by renaming the theme you are using to xthemename.

    which plugin were you installing?

    I will try changing the theme, but I am not exactly a programmer. I can’t access the Admin section at all.

    I had this problem with different plug-in 2 days ago and restarted from scratch. I added that plug in the new installation and it worked fine – no problems. The one that broke it this time is a plugin I had in the original installation that worked fine. *shrug*

    nextgen’s solid. which actual classified plugin was it? i only keep asking so we can check to see how old it is when it was last updated, whether it’s compatible with the current wp

    then it’s definitely having issues with another plugin you’ve got installed.

    go in to your hosting cpanel and use the file manager to navigate down to the plugins folder and delete the classifieds plugin.

    once you’re back in your site admin, if there are plugins you’re not using at all delete them completely as they can still effect other plugins and load all sorts of files in case you activate them again.

    I am also having same problem with “Another-wordpress-classifieds-plugin”
    I only have akismet plugin apart from this. Did you get it working ?
