The plugin works well when I have a small number of people trying to access the site.

When I have a group of students, say 40, that all try to access the site, a few can get in, but the rest get a 429 error.

I then have 3-5 try at a time and they can eventually get in, but when I have a large group, only a few can get in.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

This is not caused by the plugin, you’re getting a 429 Error because your students are causing too many requests within a limited amount of time on your website.

Also, how do your students “get in?” Are they all using the same WordPress login? Or have your created 40 unique logins for each student?

Thank you for your quick reply.

I understand that it’s a standard HTTP status. When I disable the plugin and the students go to the home page and then log in, the error does not appear. Maybe because they are all logging in at different times and not all at once, but the error seems to disappear.

I created 40 separate, unique accounts for each student.

It is a managed WP site through GoDaddy.

I’ve moved the site to a private server and was hoping to use the plugin on that site, but wondered if this was happening to anyone else.

From your reaction, it would seem I am the only one who has had this problem.

It is the first I’ve heard of this in relation to my plugin.

I suspect the issue stems from the students all trying to request access at the same time. You might want to contact GoDaddy Support about it.

Let me know if you figure out the cause and solution to this problem. Thanks and good luck!

Thanks Kevin! I’ll let you know if I find anything out. I appreciate your quick response.

Have you found a solution to this problem? I’ve got a similar issue and also have hosting with Godaddy.

@isaiah8788 – unfortunately, no. They responded “you’re in a hosted WP solution”, which I was told would fix the problem of running it from a cPanel install (when I moved it from there to hosted). And was told – “being in a hosted solution, you’re sharing resources with others and we can’t give you any more”.

So, I’ve moved over to another provider and created my own VM there with dedicated resources.

Thanks for responding. So, basically, the problem is not with a plugin, or with WordPress, it’s with GoDaddy’s hosting? Have you had any issues since switching to the new provider?

Correct – not enough resources from GoDaddy. So far, so good with the dedicated resources.
