• I recently signed up for WordPress via godaddy. I have a small business and my business partner and I are developing our web site now. My business partner can access, add and edit as she pleases, via her computer, to WordPress whereas I cannot. She has tried via my username and password and not experienced any difficulties so the problem is solely with me.

I use Google Chrome as my browser although experienced the same problems when trying Firefox.

Almost every edit I make I get the 408 error message:

    REQUEST TIMEOUT

Server timeout waiting for the http request from the client

I have tried the following without any success:

    1. Disabled my antivirus
    2. Disabled my Firewall
    3. Disabled plugins (both on Chrome and Firefox)

None of these made any difference.

When loading a page to edit the text does not appear for well over one minute.

When undertaking an edit and clicking UPDATE it takes just over one minute before I get the timeout message.

On THREE occasions (out of over 250) the edit did go through but each time took an age to complete the task.

I am far from knowledgeable about computers generally but I have used WordPress before for a different site and on this computer (Asus ZenBook UX305) without any issues such as this.

I have the feeling that the solution is very simple – just not one I know of!

Your assistance would be very much appreciated.

    Regards
    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

Use the Chrome or FF browser in anonymous mode. This would help with any browser-caching or other account conflicts.

Also can you confirm your computer has decent speed when accessing the net otherwise (i.e. when doing something other than working in WordPress)?

Give that a go and let us know if it helps.
