I am trying to use the Subscription Options plugin for Facebook and Email Subscription. I have the Facebook option working fine. However, I am trying to use Feedburner for email subscriptions only.

I entered my original feed as https://www.glutenfreelyfrugal.com/feed/
    AND
My feed address is https://feeds.feedburner.com/glutenfreelyfrugal/PgNF (the one Feedburner assigned to me). My Email icon is appearing on my page, the color and size are correct, but when I click on it, it goes to a blank page of my blog and says:

    404 – Not Found
Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.

I have searched for the last 12 hours on forums and threads, and there are a bunch of people who have this problem, but no one seems to have found an answer.

Please, I really need help. It looks ridiculous to have a dead email subscription link on my blog.

OK, I have managed to fix this, but I am going to leave the solution for all those who come behind me, because it is ABSOLUTELY NOT CLEAR on any of the Feedburner instructions I have come across.

Feedburner seems to tell you to copy and paste the HTML they give you, either for a form to fill out right on the page, or for a link to go to the form. I copied and pasted the HTML and got the error. Just on a hunch, I decided to copy and paste the feed address instead, and that is what got it to work. So in my case, it was:
https://feeds.feedburner.com/glutenfreelyfrugal/PgNF. I entered this instead of the HTML they gave me.

Now maybe this is obvious to everyone else, but the directions were very unclear, so for those to whom computer-savviness does not come so naturally, I hope that helps.

FYI, when I followed your suggestion, the email button merely linked to the RSS feed and did not provide for an email subscription….

Hmmm. Again, I am not too tech-savvy either, but you might try this:

If your RSS feed is through Feedburner, click on the link to your RSS feed, and at the top, there should be a box that says “subscribe now”. It gives you the option of “Choose your Reader”, get (your blog) delivered by email, or View Feed XML. If you click on Get (your blog) delivered by email, it should open up a new window. Copy and paste THAT URL (it should have “mail verify” in it somewhere. That is the link I used. I am sorry if I wrote the wrong one above.

    Good luck!

The instructions I provide in the newly updated FAQ go like this:

How do I find my Feedburner Email Service URL?
The clickstream from within Feedburner looks like this: Publicize > Email Subscriptions > Activate. Then right click and copy the text that says ‘Preview Subscription Link…’ That’s your Feedburner Email Service URL.
