    Hi Support,

I am using the All-in-One Event Calendar as well as the WPML plugin. Both with the latest versions. My homepage is in German (as main language) and English. The events on the German page can be found at “Termine & Preise”, on the English page at “Dates & Prices”.

The problem that I have is the following: I create events in German and then manually translate them to English. They are correctly linked to the original event I think. The events in German are correctly displayed, you can also open them. However, the events in English are correctly displayed too, but when you click on them you get the 404 error page. The problems are the links. I read a lot about slugs etc, but did not manage to find the solution. Below you can find the same event, with two different links.

A link to the event on the German page:
    https://lingopassion.com/Veranstaltung/dt-a1-1-gruppe-1/?instance_id=966

The same event has a different link on the English page:
    https://lingopassion.com/en/event/dt-a1-1-gruppe-1/?instance_id=1017

I am not able to change the link as my language structure is as follows:

    https://lingopassion.com/Veranstaltung/dt-a1-1-gruppe-1/
    https://lingopassion.com/en/event/dt-a1-1-gruppe-1/

Is there a way to tell him to NOT translate the permalink of the event? Then everything would work. Categories, Tags, Months, lists etc are all translated correctly!

I would be very grateful for help!

    Thank you in advance,
    Simon

  • Hi @sifi1987,

It seems to be an incompatibility with WPML plugin.

To fix, first, try these steps:

    – Try turning on/off “Strict compatibility content filtering” in Events -> Settings –> Viewing Events.
    – Try turning on/off “Use frontend rendering” in Events -> Settings –> Advanced
    – Try resetting Settings > Permalinks to Plain and then back to your custom style

If the problem persists, you can manually change the slug using a 3rd party plugin. The easiest way is to use a 3rd party plugin called Custom Post Types Permalinks.

Thanks but even the Custom Post Types Permalinks did not solve my problem. I can only edit the slug. As you can see here, I got a different directory for the Enlish websites:

    https://lingopassion.com/en/XY

I can only change XY but not the directory. It needs the same link as in German to work. It is also annoying to create two events all the time just because the plug-in is not compatible. perhaps u can recommend me a good calendar plugin?

    Thx

    Hi @sifi1987,

Unfortunately the issue is that you’ve installed it using two different directories, it will behave like 2 different calendars.

It’s not feasible to show 2 languages on 2 different directories.

We recommend using our user submitted translations on Glotpress instead of WPML or other 3rd party plugins:

    Hi Sunny Lal,

Thank you, I will try this. As I am surely not the only one with this problem, it would be great to fix these incompatibilities with the WPML plugin. The AIEC is a great plugin, by far the best calendar I’ve seen so far! Perhaps you can figure this out with WPML. Topic solved. Thx!

    Hi Sunny Lal,

    another question for the expert:

Would you recommend using language parameters or language directories? What is better? Thanks!
