    Hi,

I’m using “WP Recipe Maker Premium” plugin and I’ve added a recipe submission form on my website for registered users.

Submitting recipes with images through that form instantly results in getting error 403 by Wordfence (whereas imageless recipes can be uploaded successfully).

So I looked in forums, Google, read the documentation and tried all sorts of things suggested for similar issues and can’t find a solution for it. I’ve previously been able to solve my other issues between plugins and Wordfence, but seems that now I’m completely stuck.

    What I’ve tried so far:
    1. The problematic issue won’t appear in “Live traffic” view, where I’ve previously been able to whitelist similar urls and actions. So no way to allowlist it from there
    2. Learning mode helps to get past the 403 and makes it possible to post recipes with images, but it won’t pick anything up no matter how long and what users are used to recreate the situation (situation remains the same after enabling firewall). At least it’s a temporary workaround for not getting 403
    3. Turning off “Malicious File Upload (PHP)” won’t change anything
    4. Disabling reCaptcha for the submission form won’t change anything
    5. Turning off all other plugins besides “Wordfence” and “WP Recipe Maker” and “WP Recipe Maker Premium” won’t change anything
    6. I’ve tried to manually add URL’s to allowlist (with different parameters and the location where the issue happens), but I’m not sure which params are correct and where to look for them. None of them have worked for me so far. I’ve tried params like “actions”, “source”, “empty” etc

    Any help would be appreciated

What version of PHP are you running?

    PHP version: 8.0.16

Can you try reverting to 7.4 to see if it fixes the issue?

I reverted PHP version back to 7.4.28
The error seems to be gone and recipe submission with images now works.

I could use it as a workaround, but I’m not sure how this affects all the plugins I’m using (I have about 50 active plugins on my site). It would take some time to do the testing

Are you planning on updating the plugin so it would work with PHP version 8+ or do you have any suggestions on how to get it working on version 8+?

We are releasing more compatibility changes in the next release. We’re doing final testing now.

Also, for the record, WordPress isn’t recommending PHP 8+ now. There are way too many plugins that aren’t ready for it yet.

Thank you for the info and suggestion!

Have you tried the latest update yet while on PHP 8+? Let me know if you have and whether or not the problem still happens.

    Sorry for my late reply.

I tested the latest update on PHP version 8.0.16.
Everything seems to be working fine now. I was able to submit recipes with images through the front-end form on my site and didn’t experience any errors.

Thank you for resolving the issue!
