    hi,
i’m trying to delete a subscriber list and i get the message “An error has happened while performing a request, the server has responded with response code 403”

how can i delete this list? There are no subscribers in it, and there are no forms assigning subscribers to it.
thanks in advance for your help.

  • Hi @talis1!

The 403 Forbidden error is an HTTP status code that means that accessing the page or resource you were trying to reach is absolutely forbidden for some reason.

Could you please ensure that the folder permissions are set to “755”, “775” or “777”? You can do that via FTP.

Additionally, do you have any security plugins activated at all? Sometimes the error 403 can be caused by security plugins or specific .htaccess rules blocking the access.

I do have a security plugin.
however, this is originating from a mailpoet list that i am trying to delete.
I’m using the free version, which means I don’t have access to their team support directly, but i’m hoping to fix it through the community.
    i don’t know how to change the folder’s permission on mailpoet – don’t think i can?…
    thanks.

    Hi!

    >I do have a security plugin.

Just to be sure, if you temporarily disable that security plugin, does the error still happens when trying to delete the list?

i don’t know how to change the folder’s permission on mailpoet – don’t think i can?

it can be changed via FTP or via cPanel from your host. Here’s a tutorial you could follow to check if the permissions are correct:

    https://www.malcare.com/blog/wordpress-file-permissions/

You can also reach out to your hosting support, they should be able to check the permissions and change them if needed.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Hi there @talis1,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
