    Hi there !
I am getting this “Error 401 : deleted_client The OAuth client was deleted.”

I have uninstalled twice the app, and I also tried to create twice a new account on Google Cloud Platform, but I still get this error message when I try to connect my account to Google.

I also waited 2 days before trying again, hoping that maybe it was related with a cache…

But the issue still shows. The worse part is that I have this error now following another authentification error…

Any idea on how to fix this please ?

Thanks for reaching out and providing details of the errors you’re encountering. As this sounds unusual please share the following and we can inspect your current setup.

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. At what stage do you encounter this error (ie. at a particular stage during setup)?
    3. Has Site Kit worked for you previously, if so have you recently updated the plugin?

Note that using Site Kit there is no need to create a Google Cloud Platform account, so I suspect you may be using an older version of the plugin or there is something strange occurring with your current WordPress setup. Once I have the above information we can investigate this further.

Thanks a lot for your quick answer James.

    1. I have just filled the form with the site’s health information
    2. I am encontering this error at the first stage, after clicking on the “sign in” button.
    3. Yes the plugin was working fine before. for unknown reasons, Google Site Kit was disconnected last time I logged in wordpress. The plugin is set to auto-update, so it has probably updated recently.

I have also tried to sign in to Google Site Kit with all plugins deactivated, but it did not help…

    Thanks for your help

Thanks for sharing. As nothing unusual stands out from inspecting the details provided can you follow the steps below and inform me if you’re able to proceed, steps which will allow you to setup the plugin without third party plugin or theme modifications:

    1. Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
    2. Uninstall Site Kit from your plugins page and install once more from the WordPress plugin repository
    3. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    4. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    5. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    6. Attempt to setup Site Kit once more, using a standard Google account, preferably a non Google Wordspace (G Suite) account

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.`

If you encounter the same error please provide share a screenshot of the error you encounter and details on the below which you referenced in your initial support topic, we can then investigate this further:

The worse part is that I have this error now following another authentification error…

Let me know if you have any questions on the above.

Hi James, thanks again for your prompt answer

So I tried to troubleshoot following your guidelines, step by step, and I got the same error.

Attached are 2 screenhsots showing :
    The before setup up
    The error I get

Please let me know if you have other suggestions

Many thanks for sharing the screenshots provided, very useful to see what’s occurring. For some reason it looks like an older version of Site Kit remains active on your site. It also looks like you have other plugins active in troubleshooting mode, so I’m unsure what’s occurring with your particular setup, I can see WP Rocket and other plugins referenced.

It also looks like your using Cloudflare, so there may be some type of caching also impacting Site Kit setup. If you could try to purge your Cloudflare cache or temporary disable Cloudflare caching before checking once more?

    Hi James,

    Thanks for your notice

I made another troubleshooting. Indeed the first time, it had not deactivated the other plugins.
So I did the following :

Deactivated cloudflare on the sitePurged all caches & restarted all services from cloudways server.
      Purged wp-rocket
Deleted again Google Site Kite and reinstalled from the wp depository

Unfortunately, I am getting the same error message.

From this I checked with Google Tag Assistant but it did not find any tags. I also check with filezila if by any chance the an old version was still living in the plugin directory. But nothing found in this folder.

It looks like Site Kite is calling a wrong client ID

Thanks for the update, I appreciate all the efforts you’ve taken so far in troubleshooting this, which is very unusual. I’ll take this up with the team early next week given it’s a Friday now and hopefully we can determine the cause.

In the meantime I’m afraid I don’t have any known workarounds. You can try to perform a reset, I’m curious to know if there is a reset button available at “Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit”. This has been only available for recent versions of Site Kit. It might also be worth checking your hosting configurations for ModSecurity or other host level features.

I’ll report back to you here as soon as I talk with the team on your particular site.

    Hi James !

It worked like a charm !!! Thank you !!!!
I was not aware of the “Reset Site Kite” option. So I tried it and it logged out a ghost account, so I was able to configure it again

Thanks a lot for your help ! And have a very good week !

Excellent, that’s great to hear it! Have a great week yourself, and should you have a moment free please do share your thoughts on the plugin once you get a chance to test out the various dashboards.
