As with others in the forum I am experiencing the same issue but this is a year later and I am using the latest version of wordfence.

The issue occurs when I try to upload a file greater than about 12mb to a multiple file upload field of a gravity form. So far it only happens on chrome for Mac. If I do it on safari it works without any issues no matter the file size. If it is smaller than 12 MB it will work in chrome but only after a significant delay after the upload has reached 100%.

I disabled wordfence and I no longer had the issue, after going trough some of the forums here, I also tried it disabling the firewall and it worked fine as well.

I also tried to see through live traffic what was being blocked but it never showed up.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I found a rule called: “Malicious File Upload (Patterns)” I disabled that rule and it now works.

I am not sure if this is a good idea to have that disabled but it won’t work unless I disable it. Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Hi,
Could you please check “max_execution_time” value set on your server? you can check this value from (Wordfence > Tools => Diagnostics => Click to view your system’s configuration in a new window). Increasing this value (let’s say double it) might help in resolving this issue.

Let me know how it goes,
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I went to the diagnostic page on my wordfence admin and there is no “max_execution_time” line item on the page.

I do have a question though, It does feel like it is timing out but when I disable the “Malicious File Upload (Patterns)” rule it processes it very quickly and the file appears instantly so if it was the execution time wouldn’t that still be an issue?

Also, like I said before, this does not happen in safari, only in chrome.

    Thanks

You need to scroll down the diagnostics page till “Other Tests” section, then click on “Click to view your system’s configuration in a new window”, another tab will be opened and you should be able to find “max_execution_time”.

It’s strange that it works on Safari but not Chrome, I would suggest checking Chrome incognito mode (without any active extension) and make sure you are running the latest version.

    Thanks.
