Hey guys, I have the AMP plugin enabled on my website, https://duttonlaw.ca and forever I never had an issue, but last few days I’m getting this error on Google search console: “Tag found outside the document head which is only allowed as a direct child of the document head.”

I can’t seem to get it fixed.

I wonder if you have any advice.

    Thanks!

  • @alfrapper Can you share an example of any AMP URL on your site and I can hopefully assist? I can’t locate any at present from the content I checked.

Can you temporarily disable the “Simple Author Box” plugin you have active and see if the error appears?

You can use the plugins validation tool or else the Chrome AMP Validator extension to check validation, as opposed to Search Console.

Its not the Simple Author Box. I tested it.

It might be the “Facebook easy share” plugin, that I have now deleted.

However, the biggest problem I am facing is that the AMP Validator says there are no issues, but the Google Search Console says there is an issue: “Tag found outside the document head which is only allowed as a direct child of the document head”.

Also, when I enter my posts from google on mobile, it isn’t displaying amp, but regular. I want it to show amp. It used to show amp, but not in the last week.

    Thanks.

@alfrapper Thats good to know, I will check the plugin you mentioned myself. In relation to the Search Console issue the results may be stale, but you can always request a recrawl, or submit the topic the Search Console Community.

For accessing the amp version of your posts on mobile visitors most likely arrive on the amp version via organic searches. If there is a valid AMP version available that version will be the one referenced by search engines. Also news aggregators and apps serve the amp version of content where possible.?
To access the?amp posts directly and test on mobile?you can add /amp to the end of any of your posts.?
