• I have a page using the “Display Entries” plugin which is part of the “Visual Form Builder” plugin. Basically, display entries shows a database of all the times a specific form has been filled out on the site. As such, I have this page password protected as it is sensitive data. It’s been working fine for 2+ years, but just today I get an ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE error after trying to access the page, but only after entering the page’s password. If I change the page to public or private, I can access it just fine, no error. As soon as I change it to require a password it gives me the ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE error after I enter the password. I am very confused.

I researched ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE issues many people have been having, which confused me even more. I am on GoDaddy but my issue seems to be different than what other people are experiencing.

I have already tried it on a variety of browsers, cleared cache, used an empty user, changed the password, etc, no luck

Anyone have any ideas on how I can resolve this?

    Much obliged

I am not getting this error anywhere else on my site or dashboard. It appears to only be occurring on password protected pages, whether they have Display Entries on them or not. And it only occurs AFTER the password is entered. (and yes I made sure the password was correct).

Do you have any Cache plugin? Can you reproduce the issue without plugins?

    No Cache plugin no.

I tried it on a page that is not using the plugin, still happened

I then tried deactivating all plugins, still happened

Same for my issue, no cache plugins.

Also noticed I get same error when I enter an incorrect password. So that GoDaddy issue of redirecting to a different IP address sounds quite interesting, though I am with a different provider.

Well I called GD to see if it was a mod_security issue and they said it’s a wordpress issue. The suggested I check the database for any tampering since it’s password related and there have been no updates.

I did the same with my provider (who it turns out is actually reselling GD) and they dug deeper and found it’s mod_security and are investigating further. Will update with whatever they tell me on my similar thread when resolved.

My whole site just went down inexplicably. I was calling GoDaddy again to look into it, and kaboom

I am having the same problem with password protected pages. We are using GoDaddy too and they couldn’t figure it out. I have been looking at old posts on here about a year ago on the same issue and seems they all point to GD.

After I enter password I get the page:

    No data received

Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.
    Reload this webpage
Press the reload button to resubmit the data needed to load the page.
    Error code: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

    Renier

I just talked to them. It seems is their issue so they are working on it.

Mine appears to be working now. Must have been something GD did, because I didn’t change anything.

It was their issue. They fixed it.
