• Hi Guys,

I’m getting error “err_connection_timed_out” in my browser. I clicked on Live Preview> then edited the theme “Athena”> Clicked “Save & Activate”, but it does not save the changes and eventually after 20 seconds or so the “err_connection_timed_out” comes up in my browser.

From there i can not log into wordpress or access my website. Website can be accessed from the public, but not directly by me. After 20 min i can then log back in.

I’m using Windows 10, Chrome browser. 4.7.2. Deleted all plugins, cleared cache. Tried to increase memory limit in wp-config.php and increase maximum execution time in php.ini file. No luck with the above.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank You,
    Mike

The problem you are receiving has nothing to do with WordPress.

Try contacting your ISP or Web hosting provider for this error. They are in better position to assist you in this.

This seems to be happening a lot as I’ve had this problem nor for a couple of weeks and no one knows why.

One above comment says this is not a WP problem but I am starting to think it is totally a WP issue because it’s by using so many plug-ins and redirections for each plug-in to work properly that these issues arise in browsers.

WP is great for building a website but only if it’s a very small one because if you want your website to do may different things then conflicts start to arise and to many plug-ins have to work together which causes the site to slow down and thus we get this issue.

Admitting this may be caused by our WH provider if were’re on a shared hosting plan but just the same it is a Word Press issue as even google ignores slow loading websites and doesn’t submit them and eventually will block them altogether.

The (MY) question now is what to do about it,, do I continue building my website using WP or do I find a new script/developer which doesn’t use plug-ins or the 3rd option is (and this is only a maybe as there is no guarantee that it will be ok) is to upgrade your hosting plan.

NOTE: If you do have this problem arise,, You can still access your site in one browser at least until you fix the issue.

I use Opera but this should work in most browsers I think. Go to your settings and turn on Enable VPN connection and save.

Your WP site will work through there in the meantime.

    Hope this helps.
