Eror message- Theme Update

    I have tried several times to update my theme (Pinboard)via the Dashboard but keep getting the same error message. Requests for help directly to Pinboard have not been answered. The error message I get is;

    An error occurred while updating Pinboard: The package could not be installed. The plugin contains no files.

    Help/suggestions gratefully received. I am no expert, so keep it simple please ;-))

    I use a Child theme, so was considering reinstalling Pinboard, although that seems a little drastic.

  • That sounds like a server issue. Have you spoken to your hosts about it? Or tried a manual upgrade?

    Hi Esmi,
    No success with my hosts, they say it is not a problem at their end. I will go for a manual upgrade. I presume by that you mean a reinstall by the way, not a problem with that, just a pain!

    Given that Pinboard is downloading fine for most folks, I’d guess that the issue is at your hosts’ end and it’s causing the .zip file to be seen as empty. Upgrading the theme manually is not too bad if you can use FTP. Just download the theme to your computer, unpack it and upload the entire theme folder to wp-content/themes.

    FTP is no problem, will get it sorted tomorrow.
