• After spending the last three weeks putting together a site I added a forum…took me 4 flipping days…then WP-Sweep flippin ERASED it all! ALL, all gone. At least I think so. I’m gonna go look at my database and see if I can find it back, give it a day for an answer here…So, WHERE did it go? AND do I have to rebuild the entire damn thing…I know it won’t take quite as long to rebuild, but I just lost several sticky posts I’ll have to rewrite, rules, etc…

Do you create a db backup before running WP-Sweep?

Thanks for a quick answer @lukecavanagh,

unfortunately I didn’t. It’s a new site and I ran wp-sweep as a housekeeping measure after installing/uninstalling a bunch of plug-ins trying them out…After looking in on PHPMYAdmin I find that everything else in the DB is unaffected. I think I’ll just have to rebuild the forum, just a few pages and categories…maybe take a little more than a day.

At least there wasn’t a lot of posts. I think I’ll uninstall the wp-sweep so that another site admin doesn’t run it by accident..

I have used WP-Sweep on quite a few sites before and it just removed what it was meant to without issue.

Have to agree about liking it…I’m thinking I ALLOWED it to get rid of that stuff…but I’m not sure which setting to disable to keep it from purging the forum DB. I guess I’ll rebuild and get over it, but others should be made aware of this…maybe it’s just me, but I’m fairly experienced, (I KNEW to back it up, just lazy,) and someone that isn’t could possibly lose a LOT…
