Equal height columns with background on the column not working!

I would like to create a layout like the design (https://ibb.co/qDqyNL9).
I have created a row with 2 columns with equal height everything seems normal. Then I have added the background to the right column and set the content position to align the middle. Suddenly, columns were no longer equal height and cannot undo the content position button. (https://ibb.co/P5JZKqr)

I would like to ask how to create equal height columns with background on column like my design?
