Podcasts are displaying fine and the RSS definitely works (tested it in podcasts app).

But when I click play, the podcasts don’t play – nothing happens.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for trying Podcast Player.

I have checked the player. There seems to be some problem with the mp3 file. Is there any particular reason this mp3 file do not play normally? (This is your podcast episode’s mp3 file)

    https://c10.patreonusercontent.com/3/eyJhIjoxLCJwIjoxfQ==/patreon-media/p/post/31861968/8e89dab581c14b8ab5a06dda9792ec15/1.mp3

Try copy and paste this mp3 file in your browser and hit enter. It will show some error message instead of playing.

Please check this mp3 file at your end and also provide the RSS feed url, so that I can check in more detail.

    Thanks

Yeah, that mp3 link gives me an error. Not sure why though. All the mp3s play fine on Apple Podcasts.

    Here’s the RSS: https://www.patreon.com/rss/klpme?auth=t9w7O68SIIBPaiNGVYmtI2XLVxxdRnIb

Again, it works perfectly on Apple Podcasts and other podcast apps.

    Hi there,

I have checked with the RSS feed and found the exact reason for the problem.

The problem: The host of your audio file adds access tokens to the mp3 files url as query strings. If we try to access these mp3 files without those access tokens, error message will be thrown.
Unlike other podcast apps, generally we have to remove query strings from the mp3 file to work with default WordPress functionality. Therefore, those access tokens are also removed and mp3 file does not play.

The solution: I have made necessary changes in the plugin to handle such edge cases. I have included zip file of the plugin at the bottom of this message. It should work perfectly with your case. However, I will test it further with other podcasts and officially release an update to the plugin.
Meanwhile, you just delete podcast player plugin from your WordPress installation and re-install from the zip file attached.

    Thank you so much!

The first episode plays now. The issue I have now is when I switch episodes (i.e. play the next episode in the playlist) it kills the whole thing.

But I’m very grateful for at least getting the first episode to work!

Do you take donations via PayPal or anything? I’d love to buy you a couple of beers to say thank you.

    Cheers,
    Ryan.

    Hi there,

Thanks for your kind gesture. However, I must first fully resolve any issues that you have.

I have checked the link above and I could not see any issue on your website (Both episodes are working just fine). Can you please check again and confirm?

    Thanks,

It wasn’t working in Chrome, but then I tried a different browser and it was fine.

Cleared the cache in Chrome and it works!

    Thanks!

I’d love to make a donation still if you’re cool with that.

    Thanks,

I’m having this same issue. I can see all the podcasts listed, but can’t play them. We host our podcasts (and RSS) on anchor.fm

    Hi @fatimakyle,

I will be releasing updated version of Podcast Player today or tomorrow. It should solve the issue you are having.

However, if you have any problem even after the update, kindly create a new ticket and provide your RSS feed url.

    Thanks,

    Hi @vedathemes ,
I’m still having the issue, even after the update. The page can be found here

    Hi @fatimakyle ,
I have checked the link of your website and it seems that the podcast player is working just fine. It is playing episodes properly.

However, at the same time, a new window also open up and start playing mp3 file. It is because you are using a plugin “open-external-links-in-a-new-window” on your website. This plugin open the mp3 file in new window.

Deactivate the above mentioned plugin and check again. The player will work perfectly.

Please inform if you need more help on this.

    Thanks,

Hi @vedathemes , I tried it again and it still wasn’t working. I tried in in Chrome’s incognito mode and it did work. I uninstalled some Chrome Extensions and emptied the browser cache and it now seems to work. I don’t have a new window open or anything when I click play or click on another episode.

    Thanks
