• Hi All. This is my first time posting here, and I see some others have had sort of similar issues, but none of them seem to apply directly to whatever is going on with my feed(s) for my podcast. Here’s the short of it:

    1. I posted a new podcast today at 12 PM. It goes to our “big catches all the shows” feed AND to the individual feed for the show. (using categories via Powerpress)
    2. The podcast shows up just fine in the individual feed in the podcatchers, but it does NOT for the “big feed.”
    3. I’ve checked the feed. In all of my browsers, the episode in question shows up in all of the relevant feeds. The mp3 itself plays just fine, too.
    4. I’ve checked to make sure the feed I submitted for iTunes, Stitcher, Gpodder, etc. is correct. It is.
    5. I’ve run it through the iTunes validator gizmo I’ve seen shared AND the other major cast validator. I do get a notice that the feed is quite large, but this has not been a problem. The feed otherwise works.

Basically, I’m at a loss. I don’t know why the podcatchers can’t catch this new episode given that it’s *there* and works just fine in the other feed. I’m not sure if I’m just an idiot and I’m missing something, if the issue is on the other end (the catchers), or what. I thought it MIGHT be an SSL thing, since we had to update our security about two weeks ago. However, we released at least two episodes after that change which presented no issues.

Any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated. If you need any additional info, please let me know.

Here is the feed with the issue: https://skiffyandfanty.com/category/podcasts/feed/podcast/
This is the individual feed (which has no apparent issue): https://skiffyandfanty.com/category/podcasts/torturecinema/feed/

    Thanks,
    SMD

I found the Apple Podcasts listing for the show here:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-skiffy-and-fanty-show-full-experience/id373032857?mt=2

It’s showing the most recent episode as Torture Cinema #80, published April 30th. That matches what I’m seeing in the listing’s source feed here:
    https://skiffyandfanty.com/category/podcasts/feed/podcast/

Have you published an episode since then?

Hi Shawn! My apologies for the slow reply. Job interviews and grading finals took up my time!

So, Torture Cinema #80 was the episode in question. The problem now seems to be that the episodes are delaying by hours for iTunes and other podcatchers. The same is happening for the most recent podcast (an interview; ep 350). The new episode appeared on the “Full Experience” feed, but not on the individual feed.

So, this may not be a plugin problem so much as an iTunes/podcatcher problem. Any thoughts?

It can take up to 24 hours for syndication points like Apple Podcasts to display your latest episodes. This is normal. Most subscribers will always get your latest episodes as soon as they update their subscriptions, regardless of what’s being shown in public listings like Apple Podcasts. You may want to check and see if you’re using any caching services/plugins. If so, clear them anytime you post a new episode, or see if you can get them to exclude URLs that end in /feed/, as they may be “holding on” to older versions of your feed, which will delay updates getting picked up by external services.
