Entire Site, Including wp-admin, inaccessible

EDIT: I deleted the .htaccess file, reloaded the site in my browser and it’s working now.

A couple of hours ago Jetpack reported that my site was down. I logged in and saw that the files were still on the site, but that when I try to access it via browser – and on multiple different devices – I get a 404 Not Found error.

This is the total error message:

“Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”

My host is unhelpful and won’t do anything. I can’t even begin to understand why this is happening. I tried searching online but found absolutely nothing even closely resembling the issue I have.

I cannot even gain access to the wp admin section. And I found this in CPanel’s error log:

I don’t understand any of this at all.
