• I’ve been using my site for a couple of years and have not had any problems. In fact, I had not even touched the site for a couple of months, then yesterday I went to look at it and the whole thing is gone!

If I need to reinstall, I have the MySQL database backed up a few months ago and also backed it up last year in the admin section of the blog. I also have copies of my old WordPress files on my computer. The weird thing is I hadn’t touched anything in the site in a month or so. Also, when I FTP to the site via GoDaddy, I can see the database and all the files in what look like the correct places.

Any ideas? The site is: https://www.participatorysociety.org

  • I’d listen to the error message it gives you – the database could be down, in which case check with GoDaddy’s support. You might find it pops up by itself shortly!

Thanks, Iain. Actually, the error message wasn’t showing up yesterday or today, but when I looked again just now it was showing the “Error establishing a database connection” message. I’ll take a look at it later today and see if the site is back up; if not, I’ll check the config file.

    No worries. Best of luck!

You could always try connecting to the DB another way? Do GoDaddy supply you with PHPmyadmin or anything similar?
