Hey Christian,
Hope you are doing well!
Amazon Pay would like to enter the street again in the checkout even though the address is already complete? Why is that?
It’s a know issues that will be fixed, right now it’s on the backlog
I would also like to know how I can translate the marked areas on the picture?
Can you share a screenshot?
Best,
ChristianHi Christian,
Thank you for your answer.
How long will it take to resolve the address issue?
Here is a screenshot -> https://ibb.co/vjsTxvM
I would like to translate the marked passages into German.
Best regards
ChristianI would be very happy about a short information about my problems ??
Hey @christian-abu
The issue about the street address will be fixed on the near future.
About the translation issue, these have been translated already to German, but WP requires a higher percentage of Translation in order for those to be included.
- Here more info regarding the above.
- Here are the specified strings translated already.
- Install the Loco Translate plugin and activate it.
- Go to /wp-admin/admin.php?page=loco
- Selected the Bundle with name “WooCommerce Amazon Pay”
- Click on “New languange”
- On the Choose a language checkbox, check the option WordPress language and select your WP’s active languange.
- On the Choose a location checkbox, select the first option of Other (languages/loco/plugins/woocommerce-gateway-amazon-payments-advanced-de_DE_formal.po) see more info regarding this option here
- Then using the plugin’s search, search for the Strings you would like to get translated and in the German field provide the translation you would like to be used in the original string’s place. (screenshot)
- Click save (upper left) screenshot
- Your translation, should start appearing in your shop (you may need to clear various caches for them to become visible)
You could skip the wait by using a 3rd party plugin for translations though like the Loco Translate.
Steps on how to do that:
Let me know if that helps.

ChristianHi Christian,
Thank you for your message. It would be great if the problem with the address in the checkout was fixed as soon as possible. This gets customers a little confused. We have already received a few emails from customers who have complained about the extra input. It also looks very weird.
About the translation: I already use the Loco-Translate plugin. The only thing I didn’t know about was the “New Language” option.
I have implemented all of your steps. I was then able to enter and save the translation ( Change & Billing Address ). I then emptied the cache several times, but unfortunately the words are still displayed in English. Why is that and what can I do?
Best regards
ChristianHey @christian-abu
we did the same steps and it works on our end.
please contact us at WooCommerce.com > My Account > Support. You may need to create an account before you can access that page.
Please include a link to this forum thread, so that we can keep track of what’s already been done.
We will be able to help you further there.

ChristianHi Christian,
Thank you for your answer. Ok I’ll try it.
Very funny. I did every step and of course saved everything ??
But I have 2 files with German displayed, do I maybe have to delete one?
See the screenshot -> https://ibb.co/HKL837Y
Best regards
ChristianHey @christian-abu
You can try. First, try to save those files, or test them on a staging site. Will be easier.
Let me know.
Best,
ChristianHi Christian,
i was able to solve the problem.
Problem were the two language files. I deleted both again and only reinstalled one and then translated everything. Now it works.
Thank you for your help!
Now “only” remains the bigger problem with the street-adress:) I hope for a timely solution because the customers are very confused :))
Best regards
ChristianHappy to hear @christian-abu!
Yes, the development team is working on that issue and should be ready for mid-October.
Would you mind taking a minute to leave your?feedback?on your experience with the plugin? Your insights are incredibly valuable and will help us make sure we serve you and other amazing customers well in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion. It makes such a difference in how we show up and serve others!
Best,
ChristianHi Christian,
i’m happy to leave feedback.
I only have one question before that: Why is the telephone number a mandatory entry? How can I turn this off?
It’s also funny: If I select Amazon Pay as the payment method before checking out, the phone number doesn’t have to be entered. Only when I complete the checkout at the very end, where I have to enter the address myself manually, does an error message appear at the end that the phone number must be entered.
I would be happy about a solution here. I also don’t know what sense it makes to include the phone number as a mandatory entry. Some customers don’t like that. This freedom should remain with the entrepreneur, which entries are mandatory, or is there a new law?
Best regards
ChristianHey @christian-abu,
Can you show us a screenshot of the issue?
Also, I will explain how should work. The phone number is a required field for the Amazon Pay API only for Physical products, and should not be required for virtual/downloadable products. This is something that we can’t do anything about it.
If customers use the express checkout they will already have the phone number filled because is a required field when adding shipping or billing address on the Amazon pay wallet.
Hope this clarifies your doubts.
Best,
ChristianHello Christian,
Thank you for your further information.
Yeah, I got it ??
I still think it’s a pity that you or Amazon want the phone number to be mandatory.
I know it differently from other payment methods. In addition, you only need the phone number for freight forwarding goods and not for all. The decision whether a customer must provide the telephone number should be the decision of the entrepreneur.
But ok, then I have to enter the phone number as mandatory information everywhere.
Unfortunately, I have no other choice ?? Of course, I would prefer to take it out and decide for myself.
So now all questions have been answered. Thank you again
Then I’m looking forward to the soon fix of the street address problem ??
Best regards
ChristianHey @christian-abu
it’s an Amazon API restriction, we cannot do anything about it. But if you are using other Payment gateways along with Amazon Pay, you can still put the phone number as Optional on your Checkout form, and the plugin will ask for the phone number whenever it’s required.
I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
Best,
ChristianHi Christian,
is there an update on the problem with the street and salutation? You said it could be resolved by mid-October?
A customer wrote to me again and said that he found our checkout with the extra information strange and that it would be nice if he didn’t have to enter anything extra because it’s duplicated ??
Best regards and have a nice day
Christian
