    Hi,
I have a small hosting package with three WP-sites and I’d like to know, if my resources are sufficient to install, backup and restore with UpdraftPlus smoothly.

    – Sites are not big, each site has about 20 to 40 pages and each page has a big informational article, similar to Wikipedia, i.e. a lot of text and about 15 compressed images, may be 20 KB on the average per image.
    – No resourcehungry plugins
    – Enough disk space

    but on the downside:
    – max. scripting/execution time of 15 sec
    – memory limit 50 MB
    – max. upload file size is 8 MB at the moment, but I can increase it in my account (40 MB according to your FAQs?)

    What do you think?

    Martin

    Hi Martin,

Max execution time of 15 seconds seems pretty low. However, I would suggest you try? As your site seems small.

    Hi Bryle,
40 MB max. upload file size is the official recommendation? Or is it just an example on your FAQ? Seems to be a lot for a 5MB-plugin.

After reading the article about resource usage I have to ask two further things, additionally to the “upload file size”.

    – Lowering the data limit for .zip, for example from 400 MB to 100 MB, is probably not useful in my case with a small site, like described in the OT?

    – The resource article mentions videos and similar big files. But embedding big videos is no problem, right?

    Thanks,

    Martin

    Hi Martin,

    Apologies for the delay.

From your description, UpdraftPlus should be able to backup the site. However, it may take longer than expected due to the low timeout.

Lowering the limit for zip files should not have an effect for smaller sites. However, it is possible to lower this limit to 25MB, if you do encounter issues.

Embedded videos that are not hosted on your site are not an issue.
