My WordPress default language is set to English, but all content is created in French and all content is translated to Dutch. I set French and Dutch as language in Translatepress
Most of the plugins are English, so when trying to translate an English text that the plugin prints in the frontend, this is interpreted as French, so I can’t translate the text to french.

    How can I solve this?

  • Hello,

When it comes to text that appears from other plugins, you can try translating taht text using Loco Translate.

Normally you should be able to use both TranslatePress and Loco Translate without any problems, but it is possible that some gettext strings are already translated by TransaltePress and the translation done with Loco Translate won’t show in the front end.

If that’s the case, you can go to: Settings -> TranslatePress -> Advanced tab -> Exclude strings -> Exclude Gettext Strings. Here you will have to insert the default English string in the Gettext String field. You also have the option to add the plugin’s domain in the Domain field.

If you have to many strings related to a plugin, you can disable TranslatePress from translating all gettext strings by installing this mini add-on: https://translatepress.com/docs/developers/disable-translation-of-gettext-strings/

    Best regards,
    Cristian
