    Hi there,

on the checkout of my German site there is a string that says: “You are currently paying with PayPal. If you want to cancel this process. please click here.”

I can see in LocoTanslate that there is a German translation for this string.

What do I have to do that the German translation is shown instead of the english string?

    Thank you!

PS is it possible on this forum to attach a screenshot?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @eselmarvin,

The plugin should be translated into German for the most part, including the string you mentioned.
Screenshots can’t be uploaded here, but you can upload them somewhere else (e.g. your own website) and then link to it here or even embed it with HTML like this:

But for the string to be translated, WordPress also must load the translation files.
Are the plugin settings in German for you? With this string being English, I would assume the entire plugin settings to be in English.
Via Loco translate, you should be able to easily update the translations on your site.
Beyond the translation files, nothing special must be done for this string to be translated.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Hi Niklas,

thanks for the quick reply. The plugin settings are in English for me.
Is there a way to switch the plugin to a German version and would this solve the problem?

    Kind regards

    Hi @eselmarvin,

When you change the WordPress language, and some of the available plugin translations are not yet loaded, then you can usually install the new translations from the bottom of the Dashboard > Updates page.
Alternatively, there are also plugins to force update translations, but usually, this shouldn’t be needed as WordPress automatically downloads the translations for the languages that are installed or active on your site.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Hi Niklas,

thanks for your answer. The updates page says that there are no translations to update. But I can see in the Loco Translate Plugin that there is a German translation of that string.

The problem is, that this string is shown in English on my checkout page. It is a German website and the text should be german as well.

I would be very happy if you could give me a hint to solve this problem.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi @eselmarvin,

You could give it a try with the plugin I linked above. This should force-update the translations.
This should also be possible via Loco Translate, but for that, I would need to refer you to their support.
Here is their FAQ for issues like this though: https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/faqs/not-showing

While you’re missing the plugin translations, this isn’t caused by PayPal Payments but likely some kind of misconfiguration in WordPress (e.g. through Loco Translate) because WordPress manages the translation files for plugins.

    Niklas

    Hi Niklas,

I solved the problem. The language for my homepage is “Deutsch (Sie). For the PayPal Payments Plugin there is only the language “Deutsch” available. So I added “Deutsch (Sie)” as new language with Loco Translate as described here:
How can I add a language without a translation template?

Now the string on the checkout is in German.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Harry,

I see, thanks for the update. Deutsch and Deutsch (Sie) are two different languages for WordPress, and as you can see here, there are no translations yet for Germaan (formal).
With the custom template, it should be fine though!

    Kind regards,
    Niklas
