• Hi Peter

My website is running on the latest WP version and the most actual versions of the Enfold theme and WPML too. For some reason, the 404 page is not displayed properly anymore after I have installed WPML. If I want to define the 404 page in the German version of the backend, it is not saved properly and the same happens if I want to do it for the English 404 page. Also tried to deactivate the plugin, and I removed it completely and installed it again – but nothing helped.

According to the docs and what I have read the plugin should be compatible with Enfold and WPML – do you have any idea why it might not work correctly for me?

Thanks in advance and best regards
    Michael

    Hi Michael,

am I getting you right that you’ve used Enfold before and everything worked fine? The problem only occurred after activating WPML?

Did you check if there’s a problem in combination with another plugin you’re using? If not please deactivate all other plugins except WPML and 404page and retest it. If it then works please reactivate the plugins one by one and test every step to find out which one causes the problem. Let me know and I’ll try to fix it it.

If it does not work with all other plugins deactivated please describe what does not work. You can contact me directly using the contact form on petersplugins.com – if I’m not mistaken we can communicate in German.

    Regards,

    Hi Peter

Yes exactly – the issue appeared just after I have activated and used WPML.
I have checked several other combinations already with other plugins (I am only using 6 others) so this can not be the problem in my opinion.

So what does not work after I have used and activated WPML is that my customized 404 page is not taken in consideration anymore and it is like I am not using your plugin at all (the normal/ugly 404 page is displayed). I hope you understand how I mean it.

    Thanks a lot

    Hi Michael,

it works fine on my testing machine – but with elder versions of Enfold and WPML. So it seems to be a problem that appears with the latest versions. Do you have a test site you can give me access to where I can investigate the problem?

    Hi Peter

Ah ok – I see. So I guess I just have to be patient and wait.
No I do not have a test page.

    Best regards

I’ve contacted the WPML developers and received a free copy of the plugin for my tests. Everything seems to work fine.

Also I’ve contacted the developers of the Enfold Theme and asked them for supporting my tests with a free license. They told me that the next update of the theme will bring a custom 404 feature included. So please wait for the next Enfold update and use the included feature.

Bad news from my point of view because it means I have to remove Enfold from the list of compatible themes.

    Marked topic as resolved.

    Regards,
    Peter
