Does not matter what I do trying to activate site kit, I get endless errors, so I’ve deactivated it and deleted it. Resetting Site Kit does nothing, I just get an error message. I would still like to use it. Perhaps someone can explain these errors to me: Invalid client ID. If the account I’m using to sign into WordPress is not the one that was used when the Site Kit plugin was installed, how wold I find out that client ID? Also, the error “The request to the authentication proxy has failed with an error: invalid ‘site_id’ or ‘site_secret’” The help explanation is also beyond my understanding. In laymans’ terms, any suggestions? Thank you in advance. https://imgur.com/a/7LRr04m

Thanks for reaching out @shorelarkbythesea, and sorry to hear you’re encountering issues.

In relation to the invalid ‘site_id’ or ‘site_secret’ message you encountered, we have a guide on the plugin website in relation to this that contains details on why this may occur. When you’re setting up the plugin, the Site Kit service (used to communicate between your website and the various Google services) generates credentials specific to your site. There may be something on your site that’s impacting how these credentials (ie. Your site ID) are generated. This could be a third party plugin or something at host level.

To troubleshoot this further, and ensure that you are able to complete setup, please share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.??
    2. A screen recording of your experience setting up the plugin after performing a reset. When setting up the plugin, please do so from a Chrome browser incognito window. You can use a service such as Loom or RecordIt to share a screen recording, while using the same form to share this privately.?

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Hi again

I just submitted info using the form you suggested above; I’m unable to record my screen at the moment (using a work computer where I can’t use something like Loom), but I did include a link to two screenshots in the form.

Many thanks for sharing the additional information @shorelarkbythesea. Based on the screenshot, it looks like another administrator, or possible you from a different Google account, set up the plugin previously.

To clear this message, please attempt a plugin reset before attempting to set up the plugin once more (Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit). I’m aware you may have reset previously, however, something may have went wrong during or after the reset.

Let me know how you get on with this check. If the same occurs, we’ll perform some checks using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
