Encounter error from ‘static page’ to ‘latest posts’

    Presently, I have set the “front page displays” at ‘A static page’. But whenever I change to ‘Your latest posts’, it will give me this error :

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ELSE in /mnt/local/home/myname/myblog/wp-content/themes/3954/index.php on line 42

    Any professional help to resolve this issue, please?
