• The “featured image” feature is working great on our site if we manually click the “Update feed” button. But, if the feeds are updated through the update_feedwordpress=1 URL, everything else works just great but no featured images are set. The featured images can be found from the media gallery, but they aren’t automatically set to the posts.

Any ideas what could cause this?

Strange indeed. The images are uploaded then I take it. Basically FAF takes enclosures from the feed, uploads it to the website and then inserts the returning media gallery ID into the featured posts field.

Something ( other plugins ) interfering with that loop might cause it to break. Is there any ID set for the featured image or none at all? .

We’ve got exactly the same thing happening, since WP4.

First image is saved and supposed to be used as featured image, and also NOT deleted from excerpt.

What happens on the scheduled update is that the image is downloaded, NOT used as featured image, and IS deleted from excerpt.

However, if you do the update manually, it works OK.

That’s a good clue since the media stuff was changed in the latest release. A quick look shows that the function in WP might have changed arguments for this.

I’ll hope I have some time next week to dig into this problem.

Ah in the meanwhile, could you please post a feed this is failing on, so I can investigate?

Ok update, I just tested the the enclosures with the cron and without the cron and with me everything seems to be going fine…

Is there going to be an update released to fix this please Bas?

If you can give me a RSS-feed on which this occurs plus the version of WordPress + Feedwordpress you run I can try to fix it of course, but I need to know what’s going wrong.

Settings… https://prntscr.com/4n02oe – I have used all variations of the seetings.

    A feed: https://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=4

Please note that published posts always work manually.

Thanks for that. I tested this stream with the same settings on a new WP installation. For me it seem to be working. Just as a question, do you consider visiting the link /?update_feedwordpress=1 as manual updates, as in if you visit that link it works or not?

By the way earlier you stated :
‘What happens on the scheduled update is that the image is downloaded, NOT used as featured image, and IS deleted from excerpt.’

With your settings, it’s expected that images are removed from the excerpt.

In any case, could you check if any other plugins might be messing with this (like other image / FWP related plugins ) and if you have the latest FeedWordPress version as well etc? There was an August release.

It could also be related – in some weird way – that the cron user is a different one from your web user and something happens there ( little chance I think ), but maybe you can check via control or so if everything is ok there as well.

I don’t know what any of that means.

    Here’s the website; https://www.ukue.co.uk/

Frankly it’s a mess, the images are not being handled correctly.

    Current settings https://prntscr.com/4nwr0l

Even in the same feed, some images are being processed and others not.

And yes everything is up to date.

I’m going to have to change plugin I’m afraid.

Your settings indicate that only the first image should be used and the others thrown away. On your site I see images happening so I can’t check what is the problem here.
