Enabling REST API on Taxonomy causes white screen when editing posts

When I enable the
Show in REST API
setting on a new or existing taxonomy and go to add or edit a post, the page is completely white.This only happens for posts and not pages. Disabling the setting does not fix the issue I have to delete the taxonomy. Updating permalinks does not fix the issue.
